cupping

Cupping - one of the many techniques used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the inside of a special glass jar being lit to create a vacuum and then attached to the surface of the skin, creating negative pressure (a pulling or sucking up). Cupping warms the area and promotes the free flow of Qi and Blood in the meridians/channels. It dispels Cold, Dampness, and helps alleviate pain. In the clinic it is most commonly used for pain of the back, shoulders, and leg. It can also be useful to rid the body of pathogens and toxins associated with colds and flu’s.
