Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is a safe and effective form of medicine that originated in China and other regions of East Asia over 3,000 years ago. It is a complete medical system that continues to be used today. This system works by correcting imbalances within the body, as well as fortifying normal body functions. Thus it is able to both treat and prevent illness and disease.
When balanced, your energy, which we will call Qi (pronounced chee), will move freely and effortlessly around the body and through the meridians and will be neither too strong nor too weak. If your body slips out of its natural state of balance then excess, deficiency or stagnation of Qi may occur resulting in signs and symptoms of poor health.
Imbalance or disharmony of the Qi can be a result of acute and chronic illness; fatigue, overwork and exhaustion; emotional stressors; environmental conditions and diet and life style factors.
Harmony is achieved by ensuring that there are adquate amounts of Qi within the body and that it has a smooth unobstructed flow. This is accomplished through management and maintenance as needed, with therapies such as: Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Guasha, Cupping and Herbal Medicine as well as the development of healthy habits of Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle.
